Las Air Jordan 5 Retro 'Racer Blue' añaden acentos de color a una combinación de colores sigilosa de la venerable silueta de 1990, diseñada por Tinker Hatfield y presentada al mundo por Mars Blackmon. La parte superior de corte medio utiliza una parte superior de nobuk negro con ojales de TPU tono sobre tono, una red translúcida en el panel lateral y una lengüeta plateada reflectante. Esta última presenta toques contrastantes de azul real en el Jumpman bordado y el forro interior. La amortiguación ligera llega a través de una entresuela de poliuretano azul, adornada con detalles de dientes de tiburón negros y equipada con amortiguación visible Air-sole en el talón. Una suela exterior de goma translúcida proporciona una tracción adherente bajo los pies.
